Hoi An Art Retreat 10-12th February 2023

 

Treat yourself to two days of creativity and fun at our inspirational 2023 Art Retreat in Hoi An. Our all inclusive retreat is for those looking to get away from it all and spend two days of guided sketching and painting with UK artist Ottie. Our wonderful surroundings and hand picked views will get your creative juices flowing and inspire a range of mixed media sketches and final painting for you to take home! 

 

We’ll be booking out the entire Flora Villa for our retreat. Our wonderful home for two nights is set in the paddy fields just outside downtown Hoi An with ample space for painting, relaxing and of course cooling off in our own private pool! Our villa team will be on hand to help throughout the weekend  and have supported arrangements to make sure we get the best arty locations and enjoy the best food in town! 

 

Itinerary

 

Day 1 - Friday 10th February (arrival - late afternoon onwards and welcome reception)

Participants will need to organise their own travel to/from HCMC to Da Nang Airport (Return flights cost around 1.5-2MVND)

  • On arrival at Da Nang, local transfers will be arranged to our host Villa Flora to begin our Weekend Art Retreat 

  • Check in will be available from 2pm onwards but we expect most participants will join in the evening. If you plan an early afternoon arrival you can unpack, explore and lounge by the pool!

  • Welcome drinks and canapés will be served from 8.30pm - 10pm!

 

Day 2 -Saturday 11th of February (A day of exciting sketches, vibrant locations and great food awaits) 

 

Morning Activities

  • Yoga Wake Up Session (Included but optional!)

  • Quick breakfast!

  • Guided sketching (mixed media) in the beautiful surrounding paddy fields

  • Visit to sketch local herb gardens and have lunch. Guests can opt in for a local cooking class (extra cost) depending on time!

 

Afternoon & Evening Activities

 

  • Walk and Photoshoot of Hoi An market area - immerse yourself and take some reference photos/quick sketches of the vibrant markets, buildings and characters of downtown Hoi An

  • We’ll finish our work over a couple of drinks and seated sketch session overlooking the market at Market Bar Terrace (1 cocktail/beer/soft drink included)

  • Dinner at Reu Restaurant and foot massage! (set dinner from local tasting menu includes 1x drink ) (foot massage optional at extra cost) 

  • Transfer back to Flora Villa (1.7KM - some may prefer to walk)

 

 

Day 3 - Sunday 12th of February (A quiet day of Painting and a final goodbye lunch at the seaside!)

 

Morning Activities 

Leisurely Breakfast.

Painting in Acrylic - Using the lovely outdoor or indoor space at our host villa we will spend the morning developing one of our sketches into a final painting. We will use acrylic paint or ink (to allow for drying) individual support and guidance will be provided throughout to help you plan out and complete your painting!

 

Afternoon Activities

 

  • 1pm (check out) leave bags at Villa Flora if staying till the evening

  • 1.30pm - Transfer for a beachside goodbye lunch 

  • 3pm Retreat Ends

  • 3pm onwards - You are free to make your own arrangements for the afternoon. Transfers can be arranged (and are included in the fee) from the Villa or beachside restaurant directly to Da Nang airport from 1.30pm onwards (if not joining the lunch) 

 

 

Price: 450 USD Per Person (11.5M VND)

  • 2 nights - single occupancy (twin or double allocated on arrival) at Villa Flora

  • 2x Lunches (including 2x soft drinks/tea/coffee)

Activities

  • All Artist Materials will be provided for your use during the retreat (include Pens, pencils, charcoal, pastels, paper, acrylic paint, easels and boards)

  • All excursions (including transport to and from although some walking will be required) 

  • Tour of Herb Gardens

  • Early morning Yoga Session

  • Travel to & from HCMC Airport

  • Flights to & from HCMC/Da Nang

  • Extra drinks/food not included in package above

  • Any other activities you want to do in Hoi An before or after the retreat!

PAYMENT

 

50% Deposit should be made directly by bank transfer to Villa Flora to secure your early bird rate by November 31st. Credit card payment is also available but you will need to add 3% to the fee. The remaining payment is due by January 15th

To book and pay your deposit please complete the registration form and payment details will be sent to your email account. 

 

Refund conditions 

The retreat will run with 5+ participants. If we have fewer than 5 then we we cancel and fully refund your deposit. 

 

What to bring

  • Light cool clothing

  • Hat

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Sunscreen and mosquito spray

  • Space in your case to take work home including final acrylic painting on canvas board (Canvas panels will be provided in two sizes 30/40cm or 40/50 - you will need to bring a check in bag to fit the larger canvas boards) 

  • Any art tools you specifically want to use (Tools and materials will be provided on site for the weekend but you might have a favourite pencil/brush etc)

  • A good quality camera or phone to take reference photos for your art work 

  • Travel insurance/health documents​
